Infection Prevention and Safety Measures
At A Touch of Care Home Services, the health and safety of our clients is our top priority. We take every precaution to prevent the spread of illnesses, including respiratory viruses such as influenza, bronchitis, COVID-19, RSV, pneumonia, as well as gastrointestinal illnesses like norovirus, and more. Our staff follows all current guidelines from the CDC, state, and local health authorities to ensure clients remain safe while receiving care.
Our Safety Practices Include:
- Using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks while assisting clients.
- Strict hand hygiene, including frequent handwashing and the use of hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
- Encouraging proper respiratory etiquette, such as covering coughs and sneezes.
- Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces daily, including counters, doorknobs, appliances, and shared equipment.
- Monitoring the health of clients and caregivers to limit exposure, and ensuring anyone who is sick stays home or receives appropriate medical care.
- Adapting care to accommodate social distancing when needed and limiting unnecessary contact.
Guidelines for Care at Home:
- We assess each client’s home environment to ensure safe care delivery, including availability of PPE, access to separate spaces for isolation if needed, and resources for food and daily necessities.
- Caregivers provide guidance on infection prevention, safe handling of meals, personal hygiene, and other precautions to minimize the risk of transmission.
- We stay updated on the latest CDC guidance and adjust our procedures to protect clients from emerging health risks.
